*NOTE* This is for the newer PS3 SLIM (not the newly released 2013 remodeled slim - I know confusing) the model shown here is a 320gb and is from 2011/2012.

Keep the dust off of it and away from it as much as possible. I keep mine on a flat stand and clean that off as well. Maybe 3-4 times a year I'll unplug it and use the smallest vacuum attachment to suck some dust out of the vents. You don't want to use a can of duster to blow debris into the console-remember that. 8.
Super Slim PS3 250gb FAN TEST. Hello. So you might be familiar with the fan test where you hold the eject button while you plug in the power cord to get the fan at maximum speed. However, my ps3 model's eject button is purely a physical, mechanical latch I believe so no electronics to make this happen. Is there another way to do this? Super
What makes the Super Slim the ugly duckling of the PS3 family is the new Blu-ray tray, which opens with a spring-release button. The Super Slim has an actual spring-action lock to open up the Other than cleaning the internal fan and shell of any large dust debris you should be fine to leave it as is. Super Slim's use the smallest chip's compared to the original Slim's and ESPECIALLY the original models. So it should run far cooler and quieter without any delicate work needed.
Super slim PS3s do not show a yellow light or blinking red light, they just shut off after being turned on, which is what your console is doing. This is likely being caused by a problem with the GPU on your PS3. I would suggest attempting a re-flow on the RSX chip. If that does not work, you may need to get a new PS3. 15.
The slim doesn't easily overheat, the main cause is that the cooler and fan is clogged up with dust making it very difficult for it to stay cool. Take a look at some YouTube tutorials for opening up the console and give it a full clean. Do an internal cleaning especially the fan. And replace the thermal paste.
Try downloading the HFW again and match the MD5 hash values with the ones given on the download page. This could be due to a bad file. Tried that. Checked out fine. If u don’t care about anything currently on the system like games and saves u could try wiping it not sure if it’d work only ever modded a superslim once and never had this issue.
Tool needed: cross head, small and largetorx t10 security head or t8thermal paste (compound) ( don't be cheap ;) i used antec formula 7micro fiber clothalc
Super Slims don't need this kind of work, though I believe every system deserves the best. The most common failure on the Slim/Super Slim is the BT/WiFi chip failing, and being that it's on the board via BGA (pain in the ass to fix) I figured why not add a thermal pad to passively cool it for its longevity. She runs so quiet it's ridiculous.
Trophy Points: 97. I recently picked up a few faulty PS3 super slim that have an issue reading discs, I've checked that the drive and the laser is not the issue by replacing the full assembly so I'm at a bit of a dead end. I've checked the ribbon cables with a multimeter to look for any breaks or cuts and have found all the traces to be intact.
Just simply unplug the PS3 slim from the power outlet, then hold down the eject button, and plug in the power cord it will cause the fans to whirl at their highest settings to blow out the dust. After that, use can air, then once you blow more dust out, you repeat the fan test.

Play PSP, PS1 and PS3 backups off internal or external HDDs. Play PS2 backups off internal HDD. Manually install PKGs of games, apps and homebrew. Use Multiman, Irisman, Webman. Use Retroarch. It is not as robust as a true CFW but it gets the job done and checks the majority of boxes that you would care about.
